Strange Blue Switch...

MarzEz
My dad has a really old 1987 Nissan Pintara. it has this strange blue switch, just to the right of the steering wheel. (right-hand drive.) does anyone know what this strange switch does? it doesn't seem to do anything, and it doesn't light up, although it looks like it's supposed to.
does anyone else have a nissan pintara with a little blue switch? does it do anything? and what does it do!!!

it does sound very strange indeed...

i dont know what it would be in this instance but i can tell you that there are lots of weird switches in all cars, and im sure everyone has switches they have no idea what the use is!..

i have 3 different cars for work and all have funny switches and buttons on and around the dash/ignition and although i flick them, push them, with and without the car running.. i have yet to this day to find out what they do..

perhaps it was put there to give u something to try and figure out when your waiting in your car for something/someone

I'm guessing he is not the original owner of the car? Whoever had it before him might have had a neon glow installed underneatht he car, or perhaps even inside. But that switch probably activated the neon lights.

Look behind the dash, and follow where the wires lead to, im sure you'll find what it really does.

Is it added after market? or does it look like an original part of the car? If it is original, find or download a copy of the owner's manual (if you can) and that should mention it. If it is an upgrade, it could be anything, though I would guess it was an accessory that was removed from the car before it was sold.

It's little known that that one particular make and model of car was used for testing as a [possible] suicide bombing device. The blue switch was in case the car ran out of gas on the way to a target and you had to push the car...you could just reach in the window, hit the switch, and instant terrorist pizza.

This concept was dropped as being un-viable as too many terrorists never checked thier gas gauge and died of heat stroke while attempting to push the car.

Your blue switch appears not to do anything as you must have gotten ahold of a civilian version of the vehicle (before the explosives were installed) and the wire actually leads to nothing....much the same way this post & topic are going. Razz

somehow i doubt it...
does anyone know what it might be for?
i'm kind of reluctant to pull my dad's dashboard to pieces to see where the wires lead.
could it have been for external fog lights?
