hey guys, i am building a new website. For that, i need a free domain. Even .info will work for me.

You can get a free .tk domain which is ad supported by default. You can turn them off although I'm not sure how easy this actually is any more. I used to have one waaaay back in the day but wikipedia has a nice little write up of the (apparent) current pros and cons. Relevant links are in there too so I won't list them.

No, you're wrong. Take a closer look at afraid.org. They offer you a couple of subdomains that are very short and you can use the, as the domains. I use http://cplst.uk.to and some Frihost people use us.to subdomain (like http://frihost-server-status.us.to).You can try at namepros.com too. There you can earn their forum currency by doing various work and then use them to register domains.

Its pretty simple, you won't get a proper .com for free without doing something or paying, when i mean do, some websites will make you fill out surveys to earn it etc. Basically you have to work for it, one way or another.

There are some very cheap domains available. I've heard of domains even being sold at a cent for their first year. However there are no free domains around (although i have heard a rumour of a website that exchange domains for a HUGE amount of posts...and i mean a big number).
Your best bet is to probably get yourself a free subdomain. Basically your website would redirect to your chosen subdomain.
I've heard people recommending .tk , but i found them to be slow, not ad-free, and sometimes the redirection wouldn't even work! I personally recommend .co.nr . They offer a domain of "you.co.nr" free. It's basically a url that redirects to your site, and has the option to hide your real address.
It takes a bit of time to register yourself with www.freedomain.co.nr ,cos there is often maintenance, which means registration is often closed, but it's well worth it.

I think the domain .net.ru and .org.ru is not poor.I have some free .net.ru domains not used,if you need you can PM me,I will list them for you.you know regesiter a .net.ru or .org.ru domain name is not easy now.so do not let me regesiter a new .net.ru domain.hope you have find a good free domain.
I highly recommend .co.cc for you. Whether its the easiest for visitors to remember is up to you to decide. Or website.ws...offers slightly better ones yourname.ws
domain names are not that expensive compared to hosting services. Trying to get free domain names from NamePros took too long time. There is very hard to earn NP$ but I better perfer ddboard if you have to get domain names earlier. Its easier to earn ddPoints there and cash those points with domain names. Collecting 1500 points would hardly take 7 to 10 days. if you collected 3000 points you can claim for .com, .org or .net top level domain names.
Regarding subdomains, you'll regret after you make a hard labour to make you domain name popular. After the domain name is really some useful, you can't sell it or you don't own it!

There's http://www.freedomain.co.nr if you want a good URL redirection to your site (with url cloaking). But i guess people prefer real domains. It's easier to get your website into google with a real domain. i dont offer free domain. pay 6 usd and buy a good domain. i think
I use .co.cc No complaints it's free keep what goes infront of it short and I dont see it very hard to remember. You want to pay for a .com then go ahead. Besides you put it on your business card and walla it's there for who needs to access your web. Yes I always do the Name.com thing but things are changing and other Domains are becoming used more frequently now. So the way I see it if you're a huge corporation go for the .com like all the other ones. If you're a small business save some operating cost and use a free Domain.
