Have you been having any problems viewing Youtube videos lately?
I've heard of a lot of people only getting 2 seconds of video at a time.
It's not clear if the problem is with Youtube, ISP's or with the pc's.
I occasionally run into that problem, but by the next day it is usually gone. I know that viewing youtube videos through a php proxy generally does not work because of how the pages are codded.
I haven't noticed anything... :S
I think Youtube should better the picture quality atleast.
Haven't had that problem which you described, though.
Generally when I only get 2 seconds of video at a time (It thinks its loaded the whole thing but only loaded a few seconds) is when I'm capped and I timeout more easily.

Actually, on some videos you can add something in the end of the URL (&fms=6 or something like that) which makes the quality better. But it only works on some videos. (The original uploaded video needs to be of good quality as well...)
I haven't noticed any real problems recently. Youtube has been changing a lot of the things on their site lately and now they're even testing out a new player. That might have something to do with your problems or it might just be your internet connection. If I have a problem like that, a simple refresh will usually fix the problem.

Any idea how to tell if the video supports this?

I disagree, I don't want to waste more bandwidth, I have quite limited downloads.
Perhaps an option to change the image quality then, an option that is fairly obvious.
I havn't noticed it at all really.
I have noticed it once before a while ago, but I had quite a lot of things open on my computer, and I had a download going, so that was more than likely the cause of this.
But other than that I havn't noticed any difference.

Some videos actually have a link or some other way to switch to high quality now. They start in standard Youtube quality, though, for all those who need the lower file size.
Ya, I DESPISE Youtube's crappy video quality. But they are supposedly converting over to the H.264 codec which should help the quality of the video quite a bit as H.264 is probably the best codec available for high quality with small file sizes....hopefully they will be converted over soon.
I've noticed this at home from time to time and usually a reboot sorts it which suggests to nme a cacheing problem.
It is really irritatihg
I had this problem as well
Once, I wanted to view some music videos and it was all good, but then one day later I wanted to view it once again and it wouldn't let me. So I restarted my computer and the whole problem disappeared
I think that YouTube is good anyway (in terms of problems and errors) it usually happens because of our internet service providers or because of our machines
That was only my opinion you know
Just refresh it. Bugs happens.
The video quality can be improved by going to account page and you will see the option for 3 types of video viewing downloads.
its default on very low quality.
Hope it helps.
the video quality of one of mine is just totally wrong. If you watch it in standard detail, there's neon static all over the video and it barely plays, but if you watch it in high detail, it plays fine
YouTube videos have been a little laggy for me lately. It takes a little while for videos to start.
Youtube has a real problem, when I go to watch a video it never seems to come up. Most of the time it has the circular loading sign and stays like that...
Even if you leave it, it never seems to work.
I have a deep suspicion ISPs are limiting certain sites due to high bandwidth useage. But it would be partially Youtubes fault as well. When Google took it over I started getting some real issues. Some days it would be fine some days it would just not load or load VERY slowly. I'm not sure, I have connection issues as well but half the time other streaming video from other sites was fine. Recently it's got a lot better, I hardly ever can not stream a video unless my connection is going slowly obviously.
Yeah i have noticed that problem recently also. I figured it was a problem on my end so i restarted, reloaded the browser and same thing happens.. video plays for couple seconds and then audio stops and video freezes. I try to forward to another section of the video and it wont play either. When it used to be working fine though i would notice some delays in switching to the high def version of the videos. Youtube hasnt been on my good side lately and i know its not my isp as i'm not downloading or uploading anythign else while viewing the videos.
Yeah I have that problem, but its only temporary.
