and is there anything like a legal XP clone?
Are there any Vista users out there who don't hate it?
Your post and your topic are completely different.
I am not a windows user, thus not a vista user. So, I don't hate it.
No, there's no legal XP clone. It would be almost impossible to do so.
There is a project called ReactOS, which is trying to prepare an OS which is binary compatible with Windows XP but it's too far away from it at this point of time. Not because of incapability of developers but lack of developers and community and the huge amount of difficult in making it compatible with XP. Maybe, it will be XP compatible one day but by then XP will be history.

My friend actually loves it despite me hating it
.
I actually love my Windows Vista. I mean yes it has bugs, but so does every other windows Os that starts out. And the same goes for mac with the OS x. Its the same way. new software and operating system are always like that.
I also have a friend who like loves, but I am more critic.
It has bugs and eats more resources as XP.
This makes XP a more logical choice for me.

It has a lot of problems, but they will probably be fixed, and then it probably won't be a bad OS.
nope, there's no such thing as a legal XP clone
Vista will be good in 18 months, write it. Right now, use XP.
This is the only version Microsoft has released that looks like a software not with a body only but a little bit soul. And you are asking to Windows Vista?
No, I certainly love it.
It's cool look
Its extended and enhanced search facility
Its scroll zoom feature
Its improved address bar
Its improved windows design
Everything is Cool Cool
I guess none of the Microsoft Product users would ever hate it till another Operating system is released.
About the clone of Windows XP, no idea, sorry!

But it's really unstable for now. You can't reliably perform any tasks except the basic ones.
I have a friend that really like it. She especially like the preview bubbles popping up from the taskbar. Apparently she doesn't know much about software.

Vista works just fine, maybe not for gamers.
I have got so frustrated with networking in Vista. In general, the entire OS is disappointing. I am using XP. It has NEVER let me down (except when a hardware crisis has occurred, eg. hard drive becoming lose in laptop and it damaging itself or it has been invaded by spyware, but is that XP's fault???) and is ROCK solid. I love it- but Vista- I'm not so sure. Even though Microsoft is slowly pulling the pin on XP (not selling it after July or something), I am still going to be using it for a long time to come.
