Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid — Douglas R. Hofstadter
This book is pure genius, and a lot of fun. Not only is it one of the best books on intelligence (whether real or artificial) ever written, the book itself is a self-referential fugue in a structural pun on Lewis Carroll. It really defies description. You just have to read it, or even a third of it.
I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to describing this book without ever getting there. If you know what I mean.
