I like planes a little, but whenever Im on then I keep thinking the plane will crash
Do you ever get this fear?
Flying makes me nervous so I'd always rather drive, even though it's actually more dangerous. Still, I don't let it stop me from flying anywhere I'd like to go.
That fear might possibly come from all the safety briefing they give you before you fly. If someone gave you 5 minutes of safety briefing before every time you got in your car, it might make you more nervous about that too.
Are you talking about large commercial jets,
or small private planes?
I'm always amazed at how the big jumbo's 747, 777 etc can get off the ground with there size and weight.
I've heard of this fear, but i don't know what to do.
Me myself, i'm learning to fly, so i don't have got this fear.
But i can imagine it iss very annoying when you HAVE to fly.
But hey for every problem is a solution, so keep searching and trying.

Well I work at the airport in the engineering division. Trust me its very unlikely that u r gonna die in a plane crash. And its more likely that one would die in a car crash. There are a lot of safety measures that is built into the aircraft. And its happens a lotta times that there was a problem in the aircraft but u never came 2 know about it as the standby system took over it.
^If all cars had the same maintenance standards, and only highly certified drivers could operate one, then they would be very safe as well... They would also be as expensive as small planes!
^ But the fact remains that cars are less safer than aeroplanes. So my point stands
I am not afraid of crashing because I've been on flights enough for me to not fear them. I also used to study mechanical/aerospace engineering so I know the limitations or technical aspects of the aircraft. Like a previous poster stated, you are much more likely to die in an automobile accident that in a downed aircraft.
There is probably also a psychological aspect of the fear of flight; it is the fact that you are not in control. You are trusting someone you have not seen, do not see, or will most likely never see again to get you to your destination safely. Without automobiles, even if the person who is driving is not a direct acquaintance with you, you see the driver as tangible. That is why people are less afraid of dying in an auto accident even though it is less likely. I'm sure people are well aware of the dangers of driving and flying, but I don't see many people afraid of dying in cars.
