Fonts being misassigned in Photoshop (help!)

quex
Does anyone know how to manually get Photoshop (and Illustrator) to recognize a font as Japanese if it misassigns it to English? I have multiple Japanese fonts that are auto-assigned so when I type in Japanese, they show in Japanese... but then, there are others that load into the regular Latin character English list, and they fail to respond properly. Is there a way to force the programs to recognize them?

I'd really appreciate any help you could offer me. ;_;
