Asperger's Syndrome

Miriah
What do you know about Asperger's Syndrome? What if you have it and met another person that has it....? Would your own traits annoy you? Do your traits annoy you anyway? Would you, a person having Asperger's Syndrome, be able to fall in love with a Nuerotypical person? Would you marry them? What kind of adjustments do you think you would have to make?

For people that do not have AS... Would the traits of a person with AS annoy you? Would you be able to put up with them? What would you do if you met somebody that had it? Would you be able to fall in love with a person that was diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome? Would you be able to fall in love with someone that you suspected as having it, but was not diagnosed?

I think that this is the link you can follow to see a video on YouTube about Asperger's Syndrome.

My youngest daughter was diagnosed with Asperger's. Her pediatrician wants her to go see a specialist to see if that is really the case.

She is a loving girl, but continues to have social problems, not playing with anyone, and speech delay. She also is very difficult to potty train.

Yes I have known two people with asperger's syndrome. I like both of them and have little problems. What I find is that maybe because of their condition they are more aware of social interaction than others, perhaps through applied effort and self-education.

They are mild cases though and they still had a sense of humor and everything, as well as empathy and the ability to look into people's eyes. The first person had it manifest by the tendency to be soley occupied with one thing, and the other had it by the same thing and also a lack of understanding of social norms, which had successfully been overcome by applied effort so that they actually displayed more social skills and empathy than other non-asperger people.

They are very enjoyable and I would befriend more aspergers people in the future, depending of course of how their personalities were.

One of my friends have it. He's complettely normal, altough a bit unsocial, but that's normal.
He's not exactly the most unsocial person I know.

I kinda think that it's wrong for someone to get a label like aspergers as a kid because of how they did not like spending time with other kids, and then have it the rest of their lifes, no matter how they change. Especially here in finland where if apparently you have it, you can skip right past the mandatory military/civil service that most 18 year old's must endure, and not interrupt your studies for 1 or a year.
