Anyone as antsy as me for football to start? I am literally on the edge of my seat, because there is nothing for me to watch on TV. The writer's strike took away all my favorite shows, and football is the only sport I enjoy watching.
Mostly, I'm anxious for the Nebraska Cornhusker season to start. New coach, new attitude. It should be very interesting to see what they can do this year. I think the whole season depends on how much their defense can improve in the offseason though. If we have a horrible D again, it's going to be one long year. However, I have hopes that it will at least be decent since we have one of the best defensive minds as our head coach (Bo Pelini).
I realize our defense isn't going to copy LSU's right away, but I'm just hoping it's halfway decent and not the crap I saw on the field last year. Horrible strategies. Horrible formations. Horrible play calling. No adjustments made...ever. I think that's what annoyed me the most. Every successful team makes adjustments during the game. Every team except ours apparently.
Go Big Red!
I'm always antsy for football to start. I am more of an NFL fan, but any football is good football in my book.
Im super keen for the NFL to start, i hadnt followed for a few years but right back into it last season now i cant wait for next season to start
Fingers crossed Dallas goes all the way
Yeah, NFL is great.
I remember when I wasn't really into football at all. Then I got involved with a strategy class (for my business degree) and the teacher related alot of terms and concepts with college football. The more of these relationships I saw, the more interested I became in college football. Then I started to watch pro football too, and also enjoy it alot.
However, I must say, there is nothing like sitting back on a Saturday with a list of college football games on and deciding which ones to watch. Of course, being from Nebraska I always have to watch the Huskers play first, then from there I usually try to watch other Big 12 games to see what NU's competition will be like. Then of course I always watch the key game of the day (it's the one that is on at night on NBC).
Ahhh, there's nothing like the atmosphere that surrounds college football!
I too am a lover of the NFL. I am a died-in-the-wool Kansas City Chiefs fan. By most accounts we had the best draft of any team and one of the best ever last weekend. There is always a void in my life between February and July when there is no NFL, but it's really nice the last couple of years to have the NFL Network and football coverage 24/7 year round.
It's another 3 months before I tune into football again. I'm not particularly a large fan of watching what goes on in training camp and pre-season. I used to follow it in-depth because I played fantasy football. Now that I stopped with fantasy football, no more.
I was following the draft in-depth. I even made a mock draft with analysis. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a so-so draft. I agreed with the Aqib Talib at #20 but many fans thought they took the wrong defensive back at that position; they wanted Jenkins.
I'm troubled with the WR they took as they had better choices on the board. And I don't get why Gruden drafted Josh Johnson. That gives us seven quarterbacks. We have more quarterbacks than wide receivers.
There is something that puzzled me.
Why Americans call that football when it is played mostly with the hands?
That's a good question. You do kick the football here and there though...

Because American Football is similar to rugby. The majority of rugby play is done with the foot, hence the full name Rugby Football.

I love football, 5 more months to go until the Philadelphia Eagles hit the dirt.
Alaskacameradude - Is there a team that people in Alaska follow in the NFL ? ( Assuming you are in Alaska). How is NFL followed up there ?

Do you mean that the full name of American Footbal is Rugby Football? Didn't know that?
And in my opinion Rugby is not played mostly with feet but with hands. There is of course tactical play with kicks but the main objective is to get a try carrying the ball.
Die-hard Saints fan here --- Check out my site in my sig.
Yeah, I'm waiting to. After 2006, everyone thought the Saints were going to the Superbowl in 2007.
What I want to see if Sean Payton and crew fixed that atrocious defense with Sedrick Ellis and the other pick-ups we got.
If we fix that defense and the offense can play at the level they're capable of, I think the Saints really have a shot.
definitely anxious for football to start. can't wait to see how some of the local teams do...espcecially the siu salukis with their new football coach.
