whats the hottest American comic saga/storyline these days?
It's hard to say, they pass by very quickly nowadays...
In the Marvel Universe I think Civil War has been the biggest one out of the last few months, really. Huge relevance to today's political climate, substantial effects on almost everyone involved.
From there you have the World War Hulk (crossover), Messiah Complex (X-Men), and Divided We Stand (X-Men) story arcs. DWS is the most current of these 4.
Not sure about DC. 52 is ongoing, I still think, but everything related to Infinite Crisis (Google it, no spoilers on Wikipedia) is pretty confusing.
Then you have the indies. Invincible looks like a really impressive series to me, I'm going to start on it soon.
