Left Brain vs Right Brain
Here's an interesting little test.**
The image below shows a dancer spinning around.
Which way is she spinning? Clockwise or anti-clockwise?
The test is supposed to show which side of your brain is dominant*. Those who see it spinning clockwise are said to have right-side dominance, anti-clockwise shows left-side dominance. If you concentrate you may be able to make it reverse direction. I first saw it spinning clockwise but then 'looked at' it through peripheral vision and saw it anti-clockwise.

*I'm not sure that I go along with that, but it is an interesting phenomenon.
** First noticed on the Science Forums

Interesting. I also saw it spinning clockwise the first time I looked at it. However, by concentrating on the movement of the feet, I was able to 'change' the woman's direction of rotation. On the other hand, by just looking at the upper body, I wasn't able to change the direction of rotation 'on demand'. Really interesting. By the way, isn't this just an optical illusion of some sort?
I see it spinning clockwise, and no matter how I look at it it allways spins clockwise, so what does right side dominance really mean ?
Clockwise only for me... nm, now its counterclockwise. If i close my eyes and visualize the other direction, when I look down that's the way she's spinning... well, now that's not working anymore. Weird.
I still only see her moving clockwise ..... allthough it dislays better in FireFox than IE for me I still didnt conciously notice her nipples, no fair I call a foul
i think and see clockwise

Yeah, no kidding, she is (impressively) anatomically correct.
I see it moving counter-clockwise. I am unable to change it. I guess that if this test is correct, I use the left side of my brain more. It makes sense considering what the website says the right and left side brain functions are. The left-sided brain column seems to describe me.
There's a dancer?

Yes , shes spinning nipple wise !!

pretty much the same as you, but i got it to go back after a bit.
Bikerman, next time pick a spinning naked lady with better lighting. Jeez.

LOL...definitely not, my wife would not be amused
I don't really buy into the theory that this illustrates some deep truth about right-brain vs left-brain dominance (as stated on the source site), but it may well indicate something about such a relationship - I remain to be convinced. I just found it interesting and thought I would share it.
Every time I look at it, it is different. I think it isn't based on left/right brain. I think it is random, it just depends on what position it is in when you first see it and the way you look at it. I notice that it is very difficult to change the direction while looking at it, but if I look away and then back, it may or may not switch.
This is interesting. I thought I was right brain but it is going counterclockwise. So that means I am predominantly left brain. That is a surprise for me, but I am somewhat proud since I have been actively trying to improve in areas of logic and science.
I got counter at first, but I was able to unconsioucly change it
Try scrolling down and assuming that if the leg is going right, it is further away
(or invert for the other direction)..
I have no idea what this has to do with my brain though

I did this once before; at first I was seeing the dancer spin clockwise, but after moving my head side to side and tilting it up and down (keeping my eyes on the picture the whole time) it eventually started to spin anti-clockwise for me. It's a bit harder on this, because the one I did it on before was the same picture but moving slightly slower.

lol, careful!
Hey she is spinning in clockwise direction only...I think and i feel it in that way only...!!!
This is what i felt mann...Any contradictions..???

Hehehe
clockwise,
interesting stuff,
is it based on evidence or just some optical illusion, what if I can change direction.... are both side dominant or not dominant....

I usually don't like to read fiction. I guess that is part of being left brain.
I've seen this test before but can't remember which I got. Tried this time around and the first very short time I looked at it, it was spinning clockwise. the second time, it's spinning anti-clockwise. =now i can't change it back.
Immediately I thought it was going clockwise and thought that was the "right" answer, because I looked at it from the top. At that point I thought "how the heck can be going anti-clockwise?"
So how can it be going counterclockwise?

Try this...
a) look away from it and back a few times.
b) Close one eye, then the other a few times
c) look away so it is just in peripheral vision
That might work (ie it might let you 'reverse' the rotation).
Aha! The ambiguity is whether the leg goes behind or in front of the dancer. The dancer is all black so it is impossible to know for sure
It took me a while to see that (I was trying to prove that it goes clockwise). There's also some stuff on Wikipedia about the optical illusion (it isn't really an actually test of right or left brain dominance).
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Left_spinning_dancer.gif
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Right_spinning_dancer.gif
if you want to see both directions (here they add a little splotch of white to remove the ambiguity)

Clockwise whichever way I look at it. Maybe I don't actually have a left side of my brain?

Concentrate on one hand, as it goes into the body, watch it'll change and you'll be wondering how to change it back

Just switch from making the leg go in front of the other leg to in back of the other leg.
It looks like clockwise every time ....
how am I supposed to make it anti-clockwise?
how am I supposed to make it anti-clockwise?
That is way cool.
At first I saw it clockwise.
Then It looked clockwise if you were looking down at her, and CW if you were looking up.
Now I can make her switch back and forth pretty easily.

That shouldn't be the case I think. Weird. As I said before, the illusion is about whether the leg goes in front of or behind the dancer at each rotation.
That's funny that she had to be a naked woman. Of all the images in the world...
You science guys~!

My first observation overall was anti-clockwise. But when I followed the instructions and started to focus on the head it became clockwise. Was a fun exercise.
I've looked at this graphic several times, because it's so cool!!, and it's almost always clockwise for me. I have to try really really hard to make it look counter-clockwise. The best part of this illusion is when your in between seeing it go one way or another. She starts looking all wobbly.
wow, this is very interesting. It's clockwise at first for me. I had to scroll down and only concentrated on the leg, rotating my finger in anti-clockwise following her movement, and suddenly it became anti-clockwise!
Very fun exercise, thanks for this.

I saw her first spinning anti-clockwise, then some seconds later clockwise. I just don;t understand how this can vbe so!!
Well, i didnt actually bother to look at this this time. I saw this a while back and apparently im creative and so im a Righty. Although that being said i can see it using my left side. You can force it, through closing one eyes and looking through the corner of ur eye, although you need to concentrate. It comes about because of the way ur optic chiasm causes a crossing over from ur left > right brain relative to ur eyes. Pretty neat test.
i agree with ocalhoun's saying, Picture is really amazing.
First time i saw her rotating clock wise, then when i saw something else and again saw her she was rotating anti-clock wise. Well here i am giving you a small further exercise to add more fun.
Usually everything depends on your breath,Every person has one side of noe blocked a little ,always.
Its like when your Left side nose is blocked, your Left brain works and vice versa. And this blocking and unblocking of each side takes place after 20-25 minutes.
Now do one thing those who see the girl dancing clockwise, wait for 25 minutes and see girl again,
