New Religion --- Veronity
Veronity's Guidelines:
-The Threefold rule - whatever you do comes back to you threefold, whether it be good or bad.
-Thy opinions matter, this religion is ever-changing for the reason that nothing is certain but our own beliefs.
-Personal beliefs matter and should be shared with others(i.e. magic, ghosts, demons, etc.)
-Belief in a higher power, there is something that watches over us
-The elements do speak to us, just as Gaia and the higher powers do.
-This religion isn't restricting, you may take beliefs from the other religions as you see fit.
These are the guidelines i have thought of so far.. as such more may be added or removed as the religion needs it.

So far, what you are describing is eclectic Wicca. That religion already exists, all you are missing is the "An it harm none, do as you will."
And with your point about beliefs being shared... are you advocating proselytizing? Cause in a religion where the only thing that matters is your own personal beliefs, that seems hind of hypocritical.
With eclectic Wicca it's basically just carte blanche to borrow whatever parts of other religions that suit your personal needs and use them within a framework of Wiccan practice.
for example:
I consider myself an eclectic Pagan. I live by the Nine Noble Virtues of Asatru, I believe that the divine is far too large for anyone to understand the entirety of it, and so I use the Gods and Goddesses of antiquity as a way to anthropomorphise whatever small part of the Divine that I need to work with (for example, if I'm looking for love in my life, I may call on Venus, or if I'm looking for wisdom it would be either Athena or Odin) I don't believe that these gods and goddesses have a literal existence, but that they are useful tools, a sort of mental shorthand, for relating to a power that is beyond definition.
But that's just me. I've pulled together ideas from several pagan systems of believe, sprinkled in a bit of Jungian Psychology, and shaken thoroughly.
One thing I notice that is contradictory in your set of guidelines is this:
you say -
and
but then you say:
which would seem to mandate a belief in Gaia and a belief that the elements have intelligence, which does not fit with your earlier statements at all.

my religion is derived off of wicca yes.. but it is not a branch of wicca. eclectic wicca.. i looked that up.. and while that may be close to my religion.. it is alot closer to wicca than mine.
as for "the elements do speak to us, just as Gaia and the higher powers do"
im stating an example.. and yes it comes from my own beliefs.. though did you not notice that these are just the starting guidelines and my be changed as necessary.. only 2-3 won't be touched the rest are not even close to being set in stone.

This is what gets me about religion
You can just make one up whenever you want and say it's the truth...
lol i don't say that mine's true.. mine just allows you to believe your beliefs just a few guidelines nothing more than that really.. i know im going to be battered and crap.. but idc.. i truthfully don't.
you have your beliefs.. i have mine.. simple as that.. but i like to share mine with those who want to listen.. and whom ask me to tell.

You say
So if I believe that there is a 3ft Elf dressed in a pink leotard and carrying a handbag at the bottom of my garden then it is certain to be true? Or if I don't believe in Gravity then I can fly? Or, more seriously, if I believe that Veronity is a lot of nonsense then that is also true...

Well said. I personally am Christian, and firmly belive in the Jewish God and his son Jesus Christ... and that fact conflicts with nothing in Veronity that isn't already conflicted (What it does conflict with is "The elements do speak to us, just as Gaia and the higher powers do."). Oh, and the threefold rule. But similar things do happen, I've seen it, just not exactly threefold. Occasionally it's sevenfold. Grace and peace to you, and to the original poster.
You've just put up some personal guidelines, given them a name, and made yourself a new religion? - Sounds like the creation of Wicca, and any other religion, to me.
Anyway, one thing is to have a idea yourself, and an other thing is to try and "sell" it to the people around you. People are free to believe whatever they want, but that does not mean that all their thoughts are fit to be called "religion". The word itself, I think, comes from a term meaning "to bind", or something. To bind yourself to others or binding yourself? - I do not know.
It's great that you've found something which appeals to you, and I wish you luck in your search for whatever you might seek.

Quite correct.
The Latin word 'religio' (meaning 'reverence for God or Gods') is thought, by some, to come from the original root work 'ligare' (meaning 'to bind' or 'to tie') from which we also get the words ligature and ligament. This would give 're-ligare' which would mean to 're-bind' or 'reconnect'.
Others take issue with this, and hold that the actual root is 'lego' (meaning 'to read'). This would give us 're-lego' which would be 'to re-read' or 'to consider carefully'.

Which is an etymology that smells like rancid bullshit to me, when you consider that at the time the word would have been coined, virtually all religions (and certainly the vast majority of religions available to the ancient Greeks and Romans, if not all) would have been oral traditions, not written ones.
Needless to say, this interpretation is hardly taken seriously today.

LOL..I agree. I thought it worth mentioning only for the sake of completeness.....
Thing is, if you believe something, it is true... to YOU. If you believe in it, you take it for granted, see people believing dwarfs and fairies some hundreds of years ago.
But thing is, I dont see good in making up some beliefs for you to believe in, I have some rules and guides, that change with time and experience, this way I can act according to them, but change them if I see that theyre out of date, I dont need a god or gods to tell me how to act, I can love and care without their help.
