Help in detect terminate script

HI, i would like to asked some suggestion in how to detect a script running and display a message.

Actually i was about to create a script for traceroute an then sometimes it take long time to display the result so what i want is if the script runs about 15 sec and nothing to return it will display TIMEOUT.

Do you have any suggestion by that?

You can call set_time_limit before executing your command. Check this manual entry http://www.php.net/set_time_limit

Yeah i already got that but the problem is i would like to display an message once the script is terminate via set_time_limit.. but so it will only display once the script is terminated via set_time_Limit function....'
