Can anyone help point me to the right development API of Joomla? Or if you can, discuss the major structure of Joomla I would greatly appreciate it. e.g., it is divided into action and template files., all variables are defined in language folder, database config is found in configuration.php and the likes..etc etc. I usually modify the code in order to suit our need, and if I mastered the framework, it would greatly increase my speed of development.

thanks. it was my mistake without having to checked the joomla developers website. thanks for replying though. I just need to do some tweaking and change some variables used in the framework. and in order to do that, i need to know the structure..basically, it separates action from template just like similar frameworks do. all the variables are located at the language folder. the config is in the system? not sure. but this is what i figured out so far.
I think you shouldn't change any of the core variables in order to get the effect you want. Joomla is a very flexible CMS and no need of changing things at core level if well used.
