yeah i tried to go through some null scripts in php but most of them are paid softwares, others are not so good, let say i like this kind of myspace clone http://pinoybarkada.com/ i trying to find this kind of premade scripts but couldn't. Hope you can share

I tried Elgg and PHPizabi
both are nice but PHPiziabi has a better look and wide range of options....
also i'll try astrospaces, mahara and appleseed befor starting my social network to stand on the best choice...
but if you are in hurry, i advice you to try PHPizabi...

If I may: what is the social networking (software), how it differs from mailing list or a forum?
Pardon my ignorance, but so far I thought, that there are only these two ways to build a network for socializing.

Social networks are sites like FaceBook, Hi5 an Perfspot...
Thank you for the links - I'll try to find what possibilities they provide, comparing to forums and mailing lists. So far very unclear - I started with Comparison of social networking software.
I highly recommend Elgg, I've used it before and its quite reliable.
It's also highly customisable, so if you have reasonably good php and css knowledge, you can achieve a lot. Good luck.
