Ethernet Controller Problem

Hi i have the "HP Media Center m7160n Desktop PC" and currently i just reformatted my system. After i reformatted i tried connecting to the internet and i kept on getting an error. So i went to device manager and noticed that my ethernet controller is not recognized and that the driver needs to be updated. but to do that i need to connect to the internet. So if anyone can help me out with what to do that would be very helpful. (and i bought my system almost 2 years ago so i don't have the recovery disk anymore).
any help that u can offer is appreciated. Thnx in advance.

You'll need to use another PC to download the correct driver. If you have a USB thumb drive, you can copy the driver to the USB drive and then to your media center PC.

i have another PC and a USB thumb drive. just i dont know what driver to download because its not on the HP website and i dont know what ethernet controller i have because it shows up as unknown hardware when i go to device manager.

It is a Intel chipset motherboard with Intel 82562GT network controller chip.

the download listed above ( at softpedia ) is a all-in-one driver. i.e contains drivers for all the Intel chipsets. the size is approx 80 MB .

you can download the driver which is for only Intel 82562GT at

please note the drivers are for Windows 2K and windows XP only. the file size is about 11MB.
