MS Office XP re-install asking for help on SP 2, maybe SP 3

TomGrey
I have my own copy of XP, but an older work copy of Office XP, which included SP 1 & SP 2.

Recently I did a disk defragment, and started getting strange Windows Installer, looking for Proplus.MSI, which I have, but it didn't seem to work.

I found it on some other sites, too, and tried downloading it, but it didn't seem to work.

MS site said it should work, in most cases, but sometimes you needed to go into the application (like Excel or Word) and do a Detect and Repair (in Help), which I had never done, but tried. Thrice. They asked for Proplus, which I supplied, and they finished the installation ... but when I restarted, I still had the problem.

So I uninstalled, and re-installed, both Office XP and SP1. But in my re-installation of SP 2, I started getting ... where is Proplus.msi?

Arggh.

Has anybody else had and solved such a problem?
Advice would be fine to read,
Thanks.

you can try to just install sp2. sp2 already have everything in sp1

but you still can install sp1 first. no problem

the thing is, you got error when installing sp2, so you might still get error even without installing sp1 first.

you can also try to download again sp2.

or, try to slipstream it in your office first before installing.
