I recently reinstalled Vista on my laptop, but without reinstalling Dell MediaDirect (I'm not using it). And when I start Windows Media Player 11 play/pause, prev and next are working. But when I'm trying to set them as foobar2000 hotkeys they won't run anymore :/ When I bought my laptop it worked well. What's the problem? I don't want to install MediaDirect and want working media keys...

For any speical keys you will have to install the drivers or program to get it to work.
Yep, but ther's any for it on Dell Support page. My friend has got 1720 and his keys are working without any software.
