Some Doubts on Joomla CMS

jcnet
Friends, I have few doubts on Joomla CMS..

1. How do I add different menus for different pages. (i.e under "News" , I need "Latest", "International",etc and under Games, I need "action", "adventure", etc like that...)

and

2. How do I add Google Code into the advertisement area...(that is present at the centre of the page..)

and a common question...

Can I use CMSes like an HTML editor???

I need answers for these doubts....

Please do reply..

please don't bump your topic. And to add HTML code to the advertising space I think you need to edit the template. For the different menus just go to the menu setting on the admin page. You can make new menus there.

Use a CMS as a HTML editor Confused
You can just use notepad for that. But most CMSes do have a WYSIWYG HTML editor for news items/stories.

Thanks for the immediate response, MOD...
Now I come to an idea of adding an Ad to my site....

and among menus, what I meant is,,,,
Adding a sub menu under each main menu...
For example : if I have a TOP MENU named Downloads , then the side menus should be Games, Applications, etc etc and for Games (Top menu) , there should be Adventure , Arcade, Action , etc ,etc ...

This is the menu I was talking about.... And is it possible to do??

do you mean like this?:
http://designforjoomla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=75&Itemid=138

For the ads you have to find the template file and instead of a random ad insert the google html code.

yes MOD... I was talking about the same... But they are DHTML type... Some Computers and Browsers block DHTML codes... So If i implement the plugin, will they work properly on all browsers??

MOD, I couldn't the last line in your post (about the ad placement in the site...)

i have no idea how you'd want to do this without javascript. Although I think the new joomla has something build in, but I am not sure about that.

To add the google HTML code (the ads) you have to put it in the template manually. I don't have a lot of experience with joomla so there might be a template editor in the admin interface, but if there isn't you should just open the template dir and try to find the file in which the place of the ads is written. There remove the ads and put your own.

yes MOD... and I use Joomla 1.5 Stable release.. and they dont offer customized menus... Anyway , I've left my idea on it...

and coming to Google Adsense, I would like to thank you... I found "Edit TEMPLATE" in theTemplate Section.. Thank you so much..... and now I need to find a proper location to place my ad...

and another doubt on Joomla, plz Laughing

I installed Joomla PDA, a CMS for mobile portal (only for Joomla ) at http://dev.mobi/node/721 ..
They gave me two files,
1.Template
2.Mambot (Plugin)

I installed and ran the site....but the error came "Direct Access not allowed"...and 127.0.0.1/joomla too showed the same error , and did not allow me to administer Joomla... All the pages showed this error... So I had to remove and reinstall the Joomla and started to work from Scratch Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad ...hmm....... Why does this problem come?? and any solution to disable a plugin without logging in???

Thanks in Advance...

I think you can dissable it in the database. But I am not sure how.

You can just try to put the ads anywhere. If it's the wrong spot you can always remove it.
jcnet
oh, ok then I will find the table in the MySQL data base...

I have now learnt a lesson Wink ...Whenever I add a new plugin, I'll backup my DB on my hard drive so that I can recover if any error had happened... Laughing Laughing LOL....

Thanks,
