Lately, I've noticed that just about every topic in the Philosophy/Religion forum, no matter what the nature of the OP was, it turns into a "God is not real" discussion, and then it becomes a pointless flame war.

I believe in God. Perhaps you don't. If you tell me God does not exist, on an internet forum, will I stop believing? No. I'm just a guy on an internet forum. If I tell you God exists and you don't believe He exists, are you going to start believing Him? No.

About every single discussion now just turns into a "God is real. No, God is not real. No God is real"...

Anyone else notice this?

Just a note, this is a religion forum, and I've seen people come on by and say "screw god". You can't say that, as this is a religion forum where, believe it or not, religion and God will be discussed and you need to deal with it or leave.

Just to tell you.

I agree with your point. However, you will have to accept too that people who do not believe in god will keep challeging your beliefs as that is the point of discussion. They will challenge your Philosophies and tell you their own just as you will challenge theirs. That is the concept of discussion. I would not say that people need to accept God is discussed and that they should leave if they don't accept that. God is being discussed, and people are discussing the fact whether he is real or not. That is a normal point of discussion.

I've always been told religion and politics is something you do not widely discuss because you will be met by angry debaters. Just for the sake of it, I believe in God due to my own experiences. I am open to other views because that is how I come to my own conclusions.

Every few months, a frustrated religious person posts an angry rant about how wrong it is that their beliefs actually get discussed in a discussion forum. i suppose it's that time again.

You start out with an interesting and valid observation. God gets dragged into everything around here, even places where he has no business. Case in point, i see extended theological debates in threads that specifically have "all religion aside..." in the title. i have also seen you taking part in these debates, which would seem to imply you are part of the problem you are decrying.

But while you start out with a valid beef, you move away from it and right on to saying, "i don't care what anyone says, i will continue to believe in my god".

Fine. That's your prerogative. But... consider this: you have just freely and openly admitted that you are a fundamentalist - literally a fundamentalist, by the actual general definition of the word. And that's fine, too. But if you're really going to be that closed minded about religion... what can you contribute to these discussions? See, those of us with open minds can debate and learn and maybe change and grow our beliefs. You, on the other hand, as you have just asserted, can do nothing but thunder down your religious convictions at the rest of us and utterly ignore our responses.

So... why are you taking part in these discussions? You have nothing useful to offer the rest of us, and you don't want to hear what anyone else is saying.

Think about it.
