Upgrading/Installing backup to Fantastico phpBB2

I'm on cPanel, and installed phpBB2.0.22 using that.

Is it possible to upload a previously saved backup to it and to upgrade it to phpBB3 even though I didn't manually install it?

Yes it is possible, assuming it was done by fantastico.. I cant find a tut right now, however this is possible!
