SELFHTML is a VERY GOOD HTML help resource.
It really rocks.
The only bad thing for you guys is, that it's in german
I think, even if you can't speak a word of german you will learn something.
You will find SELFHTML here.

besides w3shcools, http://www.htmlgoodies.com is where I learned first. But it is a little out of date.
I prefer writing my HTML with an external CSS Stylesheet.
This keeps your html code small.
It is also more flexible to change things like the font size or the background color.
The other reason is that it's XHTML 1.0 Strict
The W3C Markup Validator would give you some errors on your example page.
But that's not the matter in this Thread
This is a very good german page about CSS Stylesheets.
CSS 4 You
I hope it helps.

I learnt all my stuff from www.webmonkey.com ...that site has a lot of good tutorials and its a friendly website for beginners
I learnt HTML from my own, by watching and analysing all the code source of all the website i was visiting. Of course i didn't steal them ^__^. And after i found a good french website to learn CSS, HTML and PHP :http://www.siteduzero.com/
but i don't really like it
but i don't really like it
I too learnt my HTML from w3schools, bout 3 years back. But what I disliked bout them was navigating from one page to the next. So I wrote a (really) basic HTML tutorial, which is on a single webpage(Webpage is quite large,he he). find it here.

I would apreciate any comments about the tutorial. (Its quite nice I think.)

Hi,
I have just started out writting HTML code. I know you can get Macromedia and others to do it for you but not all so you still need some knowledge of html coding. The tutorial i used and still refer back to is available at http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/tut/
There are 29 lessons easy to follow and takes you through the basics to javascript, shockwave and Perl. The lessons step by step build your own Volcano website (yep, not that interesting unless you are into hot lava) but at least gives you confidence. Needless to say its FREE with lots of links to other sites for resource, some free some not.

thanks for this site http://www.w3schools.com
Sorry if this one was posted earlier, only that I didn't read the forum, cause I read the first post, then I post about it...
I go to http://www.w3schools.com. I am furthering my studies in .PHP and soon, or very soon, c++ webcoding system.
Also, http://www.webmonkey.com is a great help.
If you want a lot of color codings and want it very fast, then please go to this site: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colors.asp
Scroll down the webpage and you will find a lot of color coded and color ordered colors all complete there. If there is no other helpful color coding help chart than that, please post it to me, cause that is how I get all of my color codes from.
Also, more sites for HTML coders that are craving more tutorials..

I agree, http://www.w3schools.com is awsome for HTML and all things web.
Even though it's not a free, online resource I think Course Technology puts out a good beginner-intermediate book on HTML/XML.
