This is a tutorial I created from a tutorial on making most "people/model" pictures and portraits really stand out. The original tutorial goes like this. (Im sure many of you photoshop gurus already know this one). Copy the original image and blur it to the desired amount. It should be above the original. Apply blending modes and see what each one does. Some photographers that shoot models will go into thier channels and copy just the lightest channel, copy that, blur to desired amount, and apply a lighting blending mode to make the highlights "pop" more.
My tutorial however makes almost ANY PICTURE GOTHIC. Or any picture of say fields in the day turn to fields at night or at sunset. Try this with portraits as well and you can make some scarry shit! Anyways do everything that the other tutorial sayd except one thing. copy the original and put it on top(it will do this automatically). Blur it to were you think its good. Go to your channels and select the channel that you want to duplicate(the channels you chose Red, Green, Blue, actuall read as different amounts of light...highlights, mids, and darks.) press and hold Ctrl or Alt (cant remember which on off my head) and click on the image of the channel layer itelf. Your will see that certain parts of the image have been selected.
NOW go to select and choose inverse. Copy and paste this channel on a new layer. Select differece. thats right, difference. notice that it makes images look dark or like the sun is just setting.
