Flash/MySpace Help

Gday,

I just had my first shot at making a myspace widget in flash. Don't worry about how it looks visually, it's more a proof-of-concept sort of thing.

Here is the code for it (You can try it on your own page if you want to see how it looks.):

Code:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="200" height="200" id="fav_artist" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.music-whiz.com/widgets/fav_artist.swf?id=22" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /><embed src="http://www.music-whiz.com/widgets/fav_artist.swf?id=22" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="200" height="200" name="fav_artist" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>

As you can see, it's pretty standard flash html.

The flash file itself opens an xml file on my website which has a list of a person's favourite artists/bands, in this case user_id 22 (Me). The flash file just loads the name of each artist one by one from the xml file and loops.

But on MySpace, the widget stops in the first frame and just site there. See my profile http://www.myspace.com/musicwhiz

By the looks of it, myspace blocks the flash files access to external sites. It automatically changes the code to this:

Code:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="never" allowNetworking="internal" height="200" width="200" align="middle" data="http://www.music-whiz.com/widgets/fav_artist.swf?id=22">
  <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" />
  <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal" />
  <param name="movie" value="http://www.music-whiz.com/widgets/fav_artist.swf?id=22" />
  <param name="quality" value="high" />
  <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
</object>

In particular it changes/creates these two values:

Code:
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" />
  <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal" />

Does anybody know if :

1) These values are stopping my flash loading my xml?
2) If there is some sort of work around that will get my widget working on MySpace?
3) How other sites do this?

Cheers,
Richard
