Well, me & my pal Jim took a ride over to Spurn point t'other day....a 4 miles long spit of land separating the North Sea from the Humber Estuary in Eastern England.
What an eventful day it turned out to be
We met at Ferrybridge Services on the M62 motorway and noticed my Thermos flask was leaking onto the floor....the innards had smashed & as Jim was too cold to take of his sock I had nothing to strain the 5-cups of Carte Noire (un cafe nomme desir !!) through, so it all went in a bin. :-[
We got into Hull after 50 miles or so of motorway, only for Jim's carburettor to fall off....while re-fitting the carb a Transit van smashed straight into the back of a small hatchback right beside us on the road....driver obviously watching the 2 Lambrettas & NOT the traffic stopped infront of him! :
We continued the 20-odd miles onto Spurn point & picked our way down the single track lane to the end, perfect terrain for the new camera to be tested now for it's panoramic qualities!
Despite the howling gale blowing in off the sea, we had a stroll along the beach....anglers were angling & tankers were passing by....I must get the name of the supplier of Jim's toupee for when I'm as old as he is, as it held on admirably in the wind ! :-X
Spurn at it's narrowest....North Sea to the left, River Humber to the right
And looking back t'other way, inlandwards
At this point we set off back & I bloody well fell off in some sand that had drifted across the road....I lay on my side laughing my head off as Jim came and rescued me by lifting the Lilac Flash off my trapped leg...no damage done we headed back to terra firma.
Back in Hull we passed a closed down Airfix plant....a fixture in most of our childhoods, I've no doubt. The Hunter(?) jet outside badly vandalised by Pikey kids after they'd squatted on the site a while back >
A great day out
