I write below just a few Turkish proverbs with the meanings , Can you add a few proverbs from your country.I also added meanings of proverbs , because Turkish proverbs explain especially figurative meanings.

Meaning: If you are in need, anything seems useful.

# Fire burns where it falls.
Meaning: Pain is suffered most by the one who has experienced it.

# The stone will not move from its place unless head is put to head.
Meaning: Hard tasks can be accomplished by collaboration.

# Drop by drop the lake is formed.
Meaning: From little acorns, mighty oak trees grow.

# The village that one can see requires no guide.
Meaning: No need to say something when it is obvious.

# Every sheep is hanged from its own leg.
Meaning: Everyone is responsible for his own actions.

# A dog that intends to bite does not bare its teeth.
Meaning: Malicious action is done surreptitiously.

# Who lies with the blind gets up cross-eyed.
Meaning: If you are with the wrong person, you will adopt the mistakes.

# The mill won't turn with carried water.
Meaning: A job can't be done with inadequate means.

# A liar's candle will burn until bed-time.
Meaning : A lie will be eventually exposed.

Sefilim, these are wonderful! I'm a big lover of proverbs, but my country (Canada) doesn't really have any of its very own I don't think. Maybe some to do with snow or beavers, hehe.

I've recently learned that a quotation long attributed to Elenore Roosevelt is actually a Chinese proverb: Better to light one candle, than curse the darkness.

Meaning, take positive action to make something right instead of complaining about everything that is wrong.

I'll try to find some more, if not Canadian, at least North American.

It doesn't matter ! Crazy_Canuck Smile There are really a lot of proverbs that we should deeply think on them from each country . These proverbs might have different cultural understanding.But finally all people have same way of life.

Chinese proverbs actually take my interesting too Smile They have really rationalist philosophy
