Any other HAM ops out there? It's sort of a passing hobby of mine, really. I don't have much time to keep up with playing with my equipment anymore, so I generally just play with it in the car on the commute to and from work.
HAM Radio
Thats cool
I started in the days when Morse code was used.
I used to enjoy building transmitters and receivers for short wave.
Haven't done it for years though.

Yeah. Unfortunately, they don't require you to know CW anymore for your tech license. I think they did away with it for your general recently too. I guess I can understand not requiring it for tech, but for general, I think it should be required.
hehe... my first attempt was... fun. My stepfather is the one that got me into HAM. He was showing me how to build. My first one, before I gave it power, I said, "Well? How's it look?" He said, "yeah. Looks great" as he took a couple steps back. I gave it power and the capacitor started it's little "whine" noise... and then... POOF. Was amusing in a freaky sorta way. heh
