how to transfer image from Photoshop to GIMP?

JayBee
I have one basic problem. I have some PSD file that I cant open with GIMP. Problems are layer effects, which are not supported by GIMP. I want layers, but I don't want layer effects.

I want to save image in Photoshop with flatten effects to separate layers, but problems are
- I don't know how to flatten effects (there are many layers with effects and rasterize all layers one by one is not good solution)
- or how to save layered image with high compatibility with other software
- I have tried layered TIFF, but GIMP opened it as one layer image

I have gimp 2.4.2 and the man, who send me that PSD use Photoshop CS2 or CS3, I don't know it exactly.

There are surely some downloadable softwares or add-ons for GIMP that can allow you to do that. Try searching on the GIMP add-ons. And on Google.

Turn on all the layers with effects you want.
And use the following steps to save as psd.

File -> Save As Copy -> File extension .psd
Then finally, Open it with the GIMP.
