Basically, you need oracle client installed on your machine where you run php. Rest of it is as simple as using php oracle functions.

Example:
Code:

  $conn = oci_connect('user', 'pwd', 'orcl');
  if (!$conn) die("database error");
  ...

If you use an database abstraction library like PEAR DB then connecting to the oracle db should be pretty simple. it also makes your code really portable. if your code is written using an abstraction layer then it is really simple to upgrade your database from MySQL or postgresql to something like Oracle.
