So we have a website for our non-profit org already and i want the blog to look and feel like its a part of the same webstie and not something tacked on. so i dont really want many templates but i want a blog that i can use my stylesheets with easily.

everyone wants the content on their site to be easily indexable/accesible by search engines. i saw it writen here that wordpress gets the best placement in google. is this true? as far as i understand a wordpress blog has to run of their site and can contain google ads which would be a problem for me since i want to have my files and host them where i want but also keep our site ad free.

security is also a serious concern, from my searching on google i found that more people were leaning towards drupal, so i installed this but i got spammed within a few minutes. it could be cause i didnt play with it enough or secure it well but i wanted to get the opinion of the experts!

In short, i need some widgets to make the blog look fancy so some good plugins but the look has to be easily configurable in the sense that i want my website frame around the blog. It should as indexable/searchable and secure as possible while staying in the $0.00 category...

asking for a lot Embarassed but hopefully this exists, so i look forward to your comments!

It got spammed, probably because you didn't configure it properly at all. Don't allow guest comments, use the CAPTCHA feature. That should make it good. Drupal is decent when it comes to spamming.

Try Coranto. Since users can't register onto the system and the system is isolated from the news, you don't have to worry about spammers registering in the first place unless you install the comment system, which might end with problems.

You may also consider SiteFrame. I haven't had it for long but it should provide you with decent spam controls as well.

i got email spam not spam posts on the blog itself, i receive a lot of spam anyway but it seemed like there was more than usual. it could have been something else (cyclical spam fluctuations) but my friend that signed up also receive more email spam too so i figured it was the blog....

I also use drupal, you don't get spam mail through drupal. At least, I don't, I am not sure how it works if you don't change any settings.

Also wordpress is a cms you can download and install on your own webspace.

i'm not sure about the security of wordpress. i know they are all free content management systems but from what i read drupal was consistently one of the best ones if not the one that was rated best. also there maybe a biase towards one of the systems compared to others and i'm sure there are plenty of good ones out there but this was the info i could find. i tried http://www.opensourcecms.com but this can only take you so far so you really have to install it try it and play with it otherwise you wont really know. anyway thanks for the tips
