Anyone follow the UFC? Hughes vs GSP?? Silva vs Liddell?? What are your projected outcomes? Or comments on the Huerta vs Guida fight? Guida had that fight till he got caught!! Anyways what do you all think...?

I think this is the most repulsive idea to emerge as TV "entertainment" for many years....the thought of thugs beating the cr@p out of eachother while dimwitted yobs scream on from outside (and from their sofa's too), imploring each fighter to smash the other's head in is really a backwards step for society.
There are enough impressionable idiots roaming our streets as it is (see a rap video & think it's cool to carry a weapon, then use it the minute someone gets in their way), without giving the dough-brained, can't think for themselves plonkers more to try and immitate in our villages, towns & cities on an evening.

All it says to me is that mankind is regressing, not progressing. Crying or Very sad

By the way, I'm not a bleeding heart leftie, or a water-walking fog-knitter, but this stuff CAN'T do anyone any favours, can it?

well depends how you look at it... what are your thoughts on boxing? Regarding fans, i do agree completely. Regarding fighters i'm 50/50. Some fighters are brutes, but the remainder are skilled athletes. All the brazilian jiu jitsu guys, look at GSP, BJ Penn etc... It's about technique, and testing one's skill. When you see two skilled fighters fight it is similar to an 'olympic wrestling match'. What are your views on olympic tae kwon doe matches?

I do understand your views completely, and agree with a great deal of them. I do train martial arts, and watching a true technician in practice is quite interesting...

I disagree. Under controlled circumstances fighting can be very entertaining and I think it's alright. I would much rather see people fighting on UFC, wrestling, or boxing than out on the streets. I find these shows to be very entertaining. I've been a WWF/E fan for years and I'm getting into UFC. It's all in the spirit of competition. I think fighting in hockey is worse because that's not a controlled fight and the people are just acting immature.

I think mixed martial arts in general is very interesting. The loosening up of formal rules allows different styles of fighting to be tested against eachother, and it's interesting to see the general MMA style that's emerged as a result. I really like the lighter weight classes, where there's more striking.

gee I thought this was some new tv broadcast standard. Guess i'm in the wrong forum

my first fight is coming up on Jan 19, amateur. a little nervous, hopefully i wont take any knees to the face
ddoonie
good luck! what style do you train? What kind of fight is it?
Chris24
Lidell Silva match was a really good fight, GSP has become in my eyes one of the best if not the best fighter in UFC. To take out Hughes the way he did, I don't see anyone stopping him...
ballinboy13
GSP better not take Serra lightly again, which I doubt he will. He better learn from his first fight with him and not take him lightly. Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson is going to be a great fight, but I still think Silva will run right through him.
Chris24
Can someone in the UFC stop booking tim sylvia, man I go to sleep when this guy fights...
metalunion
The next event will be terrible ! i hope GSP will take his revenge against Serra.

The complete card:
* Champ Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre (title-unification bout)
* Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter
* Michael Bisping vs. Charley McCarthy
* Marc Bocek vs. Mac Danzig
* Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia
* Joe Doerksen vs. Jason MacDonald
* Jason Day vs. Alan Belcher
* Sam Stout vs. Rich Clementi
* Jonathan Goulet vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka
* Nate Quarry vs. Kalib Starnes
* Brad Morris vs Cain Velasquez

Franklin vs Lutter is full of promise. Both need of a victory, they lost against the best of Middleweigh: Anderson Silva.
To follow Marc Bocek, Demian Maia, Mac Danzig and Brad Morris, thta smell Ko ! UFC 83 rules !

How long will Machida reign? I wish someone would tell whoever is going to fight him next that you don't fight a defensive fighter on the outside.
nhatoday
The 2005 Pride FC Middleweight Grand Prix winner, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, earlier this week did indeed sign a bout agreement to challenge UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida, which will more than likely take place at UFC 104 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Oct. 24. I think Shogun has very good change to beat Machida.

I’ve seen Shougun take the technique out of fighters real fast in Pride, It just might be a possibility he could do the same to Machida. Machida is an outside fighter Shougun needs to cover up and pick his shots inside to win. When Machida fought Tito Ortiz his defensive technique looked more like he was running most the time. Shougun knows how to take it to the distance too, so this fight will be interesting to watch.
