Yes, we had an accident on the way home.
My wife picked me up at the office at 5pm today with the kids in the back, and not 5 minutes from the office we got in an accident. Going about 60 around a wide sweeping turn some dude decides to pull out in front of us, he later said he just wasn't paying attention.
He was on our left coming away from a stop sign so his right front corner hit our left front corner, with no braking to speak of. Quite a solid hit, deployed both our air bags and I'm guessing the car is a write off but that remains to be seen.
All that's crap anyway of course, the main thing is everyone is ok and they are.. including the dude in the other car. The wife was scared and pissed off (she was driving but had absolutely no warning and no time to do anything), and the kids (ages 6 and
were about as terrified as I've ever seen them which is understandable, but everyone is ok. My leg is a bit sore where it got smashed into the dash area, my wife says she's a bit stiff and the kids seem none the worse for wear at all. Still, we'll all get checked out at the doc tomorrow just the same.
The police showed up within 5 min of the accident and everything went smoothly. It's now on record this was totally not our fault, and the dude isn't contesting it at all so it's a matter of paper work and insurance crap from here on out. We sorted all that out at the police station, got some advice from the officers and took a cab home.
There are a few experiences I'll carry with me to my grave, but hearing my kids screaming in the back seat in those few moments before I ascertained everyone was ok is definitely one of them.
