I had a site with ~ 130 hits/day. It was very nice, so I decided to sell it, since I had no time to keep the development.

If you mean unique visitors a day then my celebrity site gets on average just over a 1000 a day.

My site gets around 100-200 unique visitors per day.

But when I was really working on it, it used to reach 400 per day. Now it has droppecd to around 100 per day because I did'n't have time to update the site

You need to advertise your site very hard.
What do you do for your site?

www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com

Target a few keywords that nobody else is targeting and you'll get 100 uniques per day in no time. Target a more competitive keyword and you can be getting thousands and thousands per day.

Hi

Thx Everyone

My blog gets about 100 hits per day even without any blogging for what now almost 3 to 4 months, agreed that I have a linkin from the frihost mainpage, but that still is not more than 30% of the sites traffic.

Where do you advertise your site ? I don't want to pay or anything.
I joined some blog rating sites like blog top area but they all need you to put their link and image on your blog.

Where do you recommend for free advertising.

My daily hits slipped to below 50 now.

I get about 4 hits per day, that's mainly cause my site is abysmal and rarely updated. In the good ol' days (last year) I was getting well over 100, and when I got featured on Gizmodo/Digg frontpage I got about 500,000 uniques/day, so lots of cash from adsense Razz.
LostOverThere
Our site varies horribly. Getting about 50-300 visits a day. Weird, eh?

That's a good start, I also use directory submission. But the best of all (If you use wordpress) i to get some good SEO plug-ins. And choose good keywords for your blog, not the ones that are flooded on the net, such as making money.
Possum
Hi

I am happy to say I got 125 hits yesterday.

My advice is content. Get good content that you like. But keep on thinking of your clients. Most likely they will be like you. They will want to know what you know. Now understand they are not you, but are completely different human being who don't know all the supporting information on the topic you are presenting. So put in as much information on your subject as needed without loosing your readers.

that's my advice..

Thanks. I do use wordpress on one site ( on www.fundazone.com ) and I added an All in One SEO plugin. I don't know if it did make any difference, but it allows me to keep proper tags and titles on each page.

What other SEO plugins would you recommend ?

My keywords are interesting things in anything from computers to lost adventurers to strange puzzles.
Is it better to specialize in one topic or to spread out more ?

I think All-In-One SEO is more than enough. It helps optimize your meta tags for each post, since you can individually change the description, keywords, etc. It also does some of that automatically, based on your tags and excerpt. I never bothered getting a different one.

As for advertising/drawing visitors...

The best source of sustained traffic is Google (and to some extent other search engines). Write an article about a topic that people will search for. This generally means your article answers a question or provides valuable information about a topic - not your typical editorial, blog, etc.

Another way to get some traffic is to submit your articles to niche directories. Typical article directories won't get you much traffic, but targeted directories (like good-tutorials.com, goodphptutorials.com, etc) can direct people to your new articles. Those sites can drive a hundred to a couple hundred visitors to an article. There may or may not be something comparable for your niche.

Good luck,
- Walkere
