Portal White screen

Every time I try to run Portal, it shows me a white screen. At first the framerate is below 1 fps and after like 5 seconds the framerate is increased to a constant 30 fps but still a white screen. I also don't hear any sound of any kind.

My specs:
Vista Home Premium
1.66 ghz dual core (Intel T5500)
1gb RAM
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family (Intel(R) GMA 950)
256 video RAM

According to Systemrequirementslab I should be able to run the minimums Smile

I purchased it using Steam, so I didn't get the Orange Box.

It's possible. I tried my other laptop and it got thesame error, but on a desktop with an NVidia (I'm not sure, I thought it was an 6600) it works. Not smoothly but it works.
