Installing linux on an iMac G4..... help

KHO
Ok, so I got a linux opensuse 10.3 RC1 disk (I586 or whatever that was) and I burnt it to a disk as an iso file. The disk IS properly burnt, and does boot on my laptop, but I cannot get my mac to boot from it!!

I have tried holding C to boot from CD, this did nothing.
I have tried holding MD-OPT-SHIFT-DELETE to boot from external or CD which did nothing.
I have tried holding OPT to select my startup device, but this showed only my single HDD.
I have tried configuring boot devices in the system properties, but only the HDD/Network boot were available. Please help!!

the i586 means its for pc, not mac Sad, you want the mac version

I thought the newer macs did run on i586 as they moved to using Pentium chips?

Older macs though you will need the PPC (powerPC) version though.

Hmm, but wouldn't it still boot and just error out?? I get nothing. I will try downloading the PPC version now though
xbcd
it would never even get to the boot option screen since the processor would not even be able to execute the code.

Yes they did, but the title of the thread says iMac G4 which means it's a PPC mac.
