This message started appearing when I upgraded my operating system from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro w/ Service Pack 2 and then shut the computer down. "Your computer is now safe to turn off" Is there any way to fix this?
Computer problem
Errr..... isn't that normal PC behaviour?
well yeah, sometimes ...
most computers go off directly without getting to the safe to shut down screen but sometimes ( i have no clue when or why) this returns to default windows 95 behaviour :p
am searching for clues...if i find anything will post it ofcourse
EDIT: didnt take long to find: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810903

dont upgrade install xp direct
I was gonna say sometimes the hardware in the computer is too old to allow the os to shut it down, thus the "safe to turn off computer" screen. But I see this isn't the case this time.

It depends on your motherboard...
If you have a old mothermoard you cant just turn it off by mouse

It's related to your Power Management..
Check your BIOS to see that the default settings for APM are enabled...
I'd not suggest playing around in there at all
