one question... why are you opening a forum?

A forum is an add-on component to a web site. It is an outgrowth of an existing community. You don't have a community or a web site yet. You are expecting the visitor to your site to provide all the content.

Suggestions: Narrow your focus down to one topic. Create a web site around it (articles, maybe). Then, open a forum with a few boards, and expand when traffic warrants it.

Empty forums won't seed themselves.
