Hello guys, i just like to share this things, since we are now on the modern technologies and as the days goes by, we evolve. Just like in the internet. If we compare the websites on the early 90's we can say that the website has very fast evolve and many of the tools has arising in order to improve our skills.
Let's talk web 2.0 i guess almost all of the designers has already know about it. But i just like to ask what is the standard in doing web 2.0 layout.
1. In graphics.
2. In converting to XHTML
3. In CSS and etc.
I hope you can share your opinion about this one.
I think I am slightly confused.
Do you want to know what we think a standard in Web 2.0 is? Or what the actual overall standard seems to be?
I probably misread post since I am very tired.
Well we have to look for the standard for the Web 2.0 and so that atleast some of you can share your opinions in doing a web 2.0 standard
Web 2.0 is a stupid buzzword invented to market things which the media has adopted. There is no technical standard behind it at all.
It is a word which actually means nothing but is used to mean whatever the author wants.
Hmmm... Still kinda confused.
Web 2.0 (to my standards) is a site that is sleek, simplistic, and CSS and XHTML compliant.
Traditional, it contains "shiny" graphics (reflections, glass elements). They also tend to have RSS enabled.
Idk. I have created Web 2.0 style layouts in the past, but there isn't really any standard for it (that I have found). I do most of my sites with CSS and XHTML compliance.
I could like to define web 2.0 as a collection of concepts, technologies and standards which are adopted by the latest web development activities. Its main area of interest is sharing of information my the user. That is a website if for the user and by the user. The user is creating the web.
I would like you to go through the following video links.

It is a set of undefined collection of concepts of technologies and standards. Any video you watch on youTube is just someone's interpretation - the ZDNet one in particular is just someone trying to sell his businness. If you look you'll see words like Ruby on Rails and Ajax being thrown around because they're the current hot buzzword technology and it's therefore easy to sell them to people.
The most precise definition of web 2.0 you will ever find is "websites that are currently popular".
let say by doing, website layout in web 2.0, as i have read some articles they said that when dealing web 2.0 it should be simplicity of the site. As they said it keep more simple but attractive to look at.
Now in doing the web 2.0 layout is it require that it should be tableless? or if ever you will use table for layout by applying web 2.0 graphics like the shiny skins, glass effects, banner effects.
But i found some article by guiding in doing web 2.0 layout.
http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-2.0-design-style-guide.cfm
well i know that every author have different interpretation. But atleast each one of us can determine in doing our layouts.
Meh, the last time I checked, it's now Web 3.0: the semantic web, unified browser/non-browser applications, Web to database transformation, and the like.
And yeah, I agree [to an extent] that the "2.0-" and "3.0-ism" are all but marketing buzzwords.
While I am currently not on my home computer, I cannot post this link I have bookmarked that has some really awesome Web 2.0 discussions/tutorials/generators.
The site is VERY useful has it has a whole bunch of generators that make banners for you Web 2.0.
I will post it once I get home!
Nice Tutorial dude
thanks for sharing
No problem.
I like to share.

hm i kind of thought web 2.0 was referring to what a web site does and not how it looks .
In my opinion a web 2.0 site works just like an application that runs on a user's pc but is actually located on a server; like yahoo email or google docs i guess.
is layout really part of the web 2.0 definition?
Well, as web 2.0 boost in the web, the thing is there are a web 2.0 for programming and i guess there is also web 2.0 for web designs, such as applying the w3c compliance. So what i only mean is the design concept for in how web 2.0 makes more advantage towards the old one

lol, i agree
I don't think that the separation of content and formatting is such an important aspect in web 2.0.
I think Web 2.0 describes a new kind of web. The first web pages were archives, news pages etc that were basically made out of text. Today, most website are much more than that. They allow users to post things, read/write emails, create user profiles, buy stuff, play games, watch videos.
Essentially, Web 2.0 makes web pages interactive.
Websites are no longer collection of texts, but you can interact with them web pages, and use them the way you use an application on your own pc.
The post above this one is on target with the definition of web 2.0.
Web 2.0 is the "read/write web". Users are creating (ie writing) content instead of just reading pages.
I guess Web 3.0 will be the "read/write/delete" web?!?
