animated cursors in firefox

Peterssidan
I want to have an animated cursor on my visitors can turn on and off. The problem is that i can't get it to work in firefox. I tried with ani files but it doesn't show up in the firefox. If I used an animated gif it was not animated in firefox.

When I search for this I find a lot of information about a bug in windows. I have IE6 to test with so I don't know if it's working with IE7 either. Has animated cursors been disabled in firefox or is it a workaround?

as far as i know, there is no support for .ani files as cursors in firefox. but you can do may be animate it with javascript... if you have the frames of animation seperately, then convert each frame into .cur format. Then change your cursor files in an order with a javascript function that uses setTimeout function. But i have to say that this is only an idea, i didn't try it.
(for operations .cur and .ani files, you can use free (promotion) SC Icon Editor)

Thanks for your answer. I don't think javascript is a good way to do it. Does anyone now if it you can have ani files with IE7? I don't think I implement this because I never use IE anyway.
