algabra question driving me crazy help please.

Hi guys. my sister was given some maths questions for homwork and i can help her on all the other questions on the paper (coz i know them).

But I this one formula I don't understand.

If m and n are variables, 9m x 3n = 27mn. If they're units, then it's another matter. I'm not entirely sure what the question is asking, so I just assumed that you were asked to reduce the expression. If you're looking to isolate one variable in terms of another, you'll have to stick an equal sign in there somewhere. It's been four years since I last took a math class, so forgive me if I'm totally not right.

he's right. its most probably to simplify the terms. you don't have an equal sign so its not an equation. or it could also be factoring. just the common terms.. or if you want, just write "insufficient information!" lol..

Like previous people said, it's simply 27mn, unless those are units. But what confuses me is that you said it's an equation, and that right there is not an equation. So can you please right down what the entire problem is asking and I will be glad to help.
