It's not hard to do. And with the new programs coming out, some versions of the firmware can be jailbroken without the use of a PC.

Its a little more difficult than going to jailbreakme.com if you're running iPhone or Touch is running firmware 1.1.2 But I have jailbroken my 1.1.2 iPhone
It required me to downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak, prepare to upgrade to 1.1.2 and then upgrade using a java application.

theres also alot of speculation on if it is illegal though, read it again
