My Blog: 403 Forbidden

patasarriba
OK, I just installed a WordPress blog for myself at http://sandra.caipocha.com . It was an automatic installation through Fantastico, so it shouldn't have been screwed up! But here is what it says:

Quote:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I'm assuming I have to change the permissions...but to what!!?? The entire subdomain directory is CHMOD 0755. Then the WordPress folders within the directory are all 0755 as well, and ALL of the files are 0644.

Please help me! Thanks!!!!!

Try unistalling and installing again. If it was with Fantastico... I don't know what went wrong.

Rule number one:

NEVER USE FANTASTICO! Never, ever use it. Waste of time, and if you are unable to install WordPress by yourself without Fantastico then you do not deserve to create a website.

Learn how to make MYSQL databases, and how to set it up without using Fantastico. Fantastico isn't very "fantastic."

It sounds like you may have some .htaccess files which restrict access. I agree that you should probably try reinstalling, but it is also possible you may have left some .htaccess files there with the wrong settings.

I am capable of installing WordPress without Fantastico, but I just thought it would save me some time. And who are you to decide who deserves to make a website?

I don't know if I should play with the .htaccess file in the directory too much because that too was put there by WordPress, but I'll see. This is really starting to annoy me.

Thanks to those who gave helpful responses...hopefully I'll have this all resolved soon.

Dont take anything on heart, anything you get here is just to encourage and sharpen your skills, i guess he is right dont install with Fantastico. You install it by yourself and just look how it works. you can also go throught the installation Guide of wordpress. Use phpmyadmin to create database. i mean everything as web developer does.
