So yeah, what's the best program for doing page layouts and stuff? I hear good things about Adobe InDesign, but the real pros seem to use Quark... And then there's Scribus, an open source program that seems quite good too. Any opinions here or is page/printed layouts just not something folks are interested in here?

Hi, do you want to do print or web layouts? For Print is Indesign a very good choice, but for web i recommend Dreamweaver

Most pros use InDesign, but as novice I don't think it really matters. Just use what you like and what gets the best results for you. InDesign has a free 30-day trial, so you can try it and if you like it buy the software
