A recent movement in the rap music community is 'stop snitchin'.

You're kidding right? These people who made these T-shirts and videos are ACTUALLY advocating (or more accurately, threatening) people not to report those who they know have committed crimes (and serious ones at that)? That's definately a great way to get murder, violent acts, and overdose death rates (amoung other things) to rise. It's apparent that these people have no sense of moral whatsoever.
What they are doing is using mass media production (the t-shirts) and attempting to instill fear into those who would try to do the right thing, simply so they won't get caught. Not to mention peer pressure. All for their own selfish purposes.
At the same time, I understand that there may be some exceptions to this. For instance, if a law is violating certain human rights, or something of similar nature. | jwellsy wrote: |

What that does mean? "I have no real opinion but thought that I'd try to something viral" is about all I can come up with...

It's basic witness intimidation, and is great for people who are trying to do whatever thay want. If the snitches were being made to enforce some stupid frame-up, then sure, I'd understand it. But...it's being used by would-be criminals to intimidate people into not telling the police what they are doing, and that immoral at best, craven at worst....
HMThe Mafia did the same thing. The KKK did the same thing. -.- I don't advocate it, but it's not like stuff like this hasn't been done before. I think it's a bad thing, but it has an underlying cause; people in extremely low poverty often have to resort to illegal actions in order to survive or do decent. A job that pays $5.75 an hour doesn't cut it for ANYONE. There are issues that are causing this. The fact that nobody wants to address them is the reason why it will persist and become a larger problem.
That's some nice criminal trick.. I had to think of the song "it's me snitches" by Swizz Beatz and "Hip Hop Police" by Chamillionaire right away.
I'm so glad that in America you can always choose to anonymous when reporting a crime! I hate criminals and "thugs."

) There has been a lot of talk about "snitchin" on TV shows
like "The Shield" , "The Boondocks" and probably more that I'm not aware of!
It might sound that "NOT snitchin" is as horrible the crime it is but it's not always the case anyways the message carried out about NOT TO SNITCH as a simple rule is just stupid! Only young idiotic fools might follow it but when anybody get cornered and your ass going to jail, you'll even snitch on your BROTHER!
