Well ... make a site which:

a) will look like it's something that You realy know and like to write about it
b) give You satisfaction and You enjoy making it
c) is not "everything about anything" - such pages doesn't give You lot of $ - You have to find your own niche.

One more thing - don't copy others ideas - it's not good because their sites have good possition and competiting with them may be verry hart - again - find your own niche.

For example - i have two sites with ad-sense, and I have payout every month (or sometimes two months) from adsense. And that's because I didn't write anything on my main earning site since april ... i'm working on it and I think that I'll double my earnings soon Smile

Something more - traffic is the king. You have to attract people to your site. Read about SEO. 1000 unique visitors per day may give You some cash but this is only beginning.
And remember ... 1000uu/day may be to much for frihost (only 10gb bw/month) if Your site will contain lot of images etc Smile
