Hi all
I believe the best way to code a website is by hand. Frontpage and Dreamweaver (More so FP) are for people who just want to get something together, and don't really care about how it is put together. Actually writing your code allows you to make sure it will look exactly how you want it too. As long as you have a moderately small site, I really think coding by hand is the best way to go.

Here, here. If you've got the time to learn, coding by hand gives you so much more control and in the end a much better result.
However, if you want to create forums and/or blogs there is some great free software out there which will do most of the work for you eg. phpbb.
