Vista codecs and second partition security

Mosqwik
I just installed vista ultimate 64 bit but I don't have codecs cuz avi movies won't play in mce does anybody know of a good complete codec pack for vista (with mce codecs) thanks

edit when I try to open a file from my xp partition then I have to make myself the owner of the file is there an easy way to fix that?

Ummm....

For AVI files, and a few other formats, grab the Xvid codec. Yes... xvid, not divx.

But honestly... I would recommend just downloading VLC Player http://videolan.org

It has support for almost all video media types (almost all, but not all). And support is al native. No installing of tons of codecs or anything.
