Automatic index

Possum
Hi

I want to upload a file to a folder. Each file will have a different name. Is there a way to automatically create an index of all those files in that folder so people can view those file via that index page..?

cheers Possum..

You can put 'Options +Indexes' in the .htaccess file in that directory to let Apache create the index. This index is shown if the user requests the directory, i.e. ("http://asite.com/some/dir/")

Hi

I'm glad to learn this method but it still can does not solve my problem.

I do not have access to apache at FriHost so I can not use this method..

I want to use a php script that will look at a directory and create a web page and use the php files in that folder to create an index..

You can create a file called ".htaccess" (without the quotes) in the directory for which you want the index. Then put the "Options +Indexes" line in that file. This also works on frihost (coincidentally I used it at frihost myself today).

Of course you can also create a PHP script for it, but this method is easier. Very Happy
