But windows xp, searches for words only for certain files like word ,text etc..

Is there anyway to make windows xp to search for php files containing particular word?

Search function in Windows® XP has a known issue of not finding a number of File Types when you do a Search for Files "containing text" or using the "A word or phrase in the file" option.
See Using the "A Word or Phrase in the File" Search Criterion May Not Work for Microsoft writeup or Search - Text for an alterative.

Thanks for that link. In that document, Microsoft provides a solution as
Code:

For example, to use the text filter provider for .zzz files, the following registry setting should exist:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zzz\PersistentHandler\(Default) = {5e941d80-bf96-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}

After you add this value to the registry, you must log off and then log back on to make the change take effect.

I applied the same for .php files. Now I was able to search for a text within the php files.
It worked as per my expectation.

Thanks again..
