Eating a particular food won't give you some property that makes you warmer long-term. It is the temperature of the food as you eat it that may affect your own warmth short-term.
I recommend low-salt soups, hot vegetables, and warm sandwiches as staples for healthy but warm eating during the colder months!
Good in winter:
Beans and wieners
Hot oatmeal/cream of wheat for breakfast (sticks to your ribs as we like to say!)
Roast with mashed potatoes (can be turkey, chicken, duck etc)
...and that's all I can think of what I eat in the winter time. Mmmmmm.
Canada = very cold therefore Canadian = know how to eat when cold

I always think of chili as being for summer, like in chili cookouts.
Cheese sandwiches with hot chocolate are good in the cold, I think. And roasted potatoes. Oh, and a good Thai curry with lots of warm coconut milk.
